Odama (GameCube) Original Retail Box

Description
Nintendo’s YOOT SAITO’S ODAMA is one of the most unique games ever to land on the Game Cube. It’s a pinball game set in feudal Japan, where an exiled son must use his mystical metal ball to lead troops in battle. The framing storyline of ODAMA follows Kagetora Yamanouchi, the exiled son of a great lord who must lead his followers to reclaim their lost homeland using the Odama, a magical metal ball. While this may sound kind of strange, the game play and storyline of YOOT SAITO’S ODAMA will quickly draw in the player. Players use the Odama as the ball in a giant pinball game. Using flippers, they direct the Odama and, thus, their army across the battlefield. The goal of each level is to get the troops to carry a large bell to a well-guarded gate. Players have a number of options to accomplish this goal, including distracting enemies with rice balls. In addition to the unique pinball aspect of the game, ODAMA also utilizes voice commands via a Game Cube microphone. Players will earn these voice commands as they progress through the game and can use them to direct their men. These commands add another level of strategy and fun to the game. Gamers looking for something different will find YOOT SAITO’S ODAMA exactly what they want. Its unique combination of pinball, voice commands, and storyline create a game that is truly like no other.

Special Features
  • Using giant flippers, players aim the giant Odama ball to bowl over enemies, shatter their defenses and wreak havoc on the battlefield.
  • With the Nintendo GameCube Mic, players command men to charge the enemy, defend positions, seize the enemy gates and much more.
  • Game Storyline: The main character in Odama is Yamanouchi Kagetora, the general credited with creating the Way of Ninten, a philosophy that puts the greater good above the individual’s needs. With this philosophy to guide him, he finds that his individual soldiers can band together to create a force strong enough to defeat even the most powerful enemy. When his nemesis, a general named Kendare, kills his father, Kagetora exacts his revenge against a vast army with only 30 soldiers in his command. Kagetora has a secret weapon, however – a legendary weapon called the Odama.
  • Characters: The Odama itself is the most prominent character in the game. This gigantic ball rolls across the battlefield, pulverizing anything in its path – friend or foe. A commander stands guard between the two flippers, hacking down any soldiers who attempt to pass. The army of soldiers carries items for players and obeys their every order.
  • How to progress through the game: The L and R buttons control the flippers, which operate exactly like those in any pinball game: They smack the Odama back into the battlefield, directing it into targets and away from soldiers. Players also can tilt the battlefield, allowing them to alter the course of the Odama once they have hit it into the fray. Using the Nintendo GameCube Mic, players will direct their soldiers by giving voice commands to them. The goal is to shatter the enemy gates with the Odama and direct a crew of men carrying a giant bell to pass through the opened gates. Players’ soldiers will defend their crew and seize enemy positions to protect the men on their mission.
  • Special powers/weapons/moves/features: The Nintendo GameCube Mic is the most important addition to this title. By holding down the X button on the Nintendo GameCube controller, players activate the microphone. There is a vast array of commands that Odama can understand, allowing players to order their soldiers to ford rivers, charge enemies, retreat, line up in formation or defend positions, just to name a few.,Using giant flippers, players aim the giant Odama ball to bowl over enemies, shatter their defenses and wreak havoc on the battlefield; with the Nintendo GameCube Mic, players command men to charge the enemy, defend positions, seize the enemy gates and much more.
